Virgel Lane Cooke, 69, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at his daughter's residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 6, 1950 in Horry County, a son of the late Joseph Cullen Cooke Sr. and Velma Todd Cooke.

He was also predeceased by his sisters, Glenda Cooke and Brenda Cooke Graham.

Virgel will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to all he met. After serving in the US Army, he enjoyed driving trucks for many years. Fishing and spending time with family gave him great joy, but spending time with his grandchildren is what he loved most of all.

Mr. Cooke is survived by his children, Scottie Lane Cooke (Tangie), Chad Allen Cooke (Junnie) and April Atwater (Aaron); brothers, Charles Cooke Sr. (Phyllis) and Joseph Cooke Jr.; eight grandchildren, Tristen Cooke, Kristina Cooke Gloria, Gage Cooke, Bridget Foster, Madison Atwater, Dalton Cooke Landon Faulk and Corbin Cooke and many other family and friends who will miss him.

The family will receive friends at Watson Funeral Services on Friday August 23, 2019 from 6pm until 8pm.

Funeral Services will be held 11am Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Mack Hutson officiating.

Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery.
