William Teddy
Sanders
Oct 15, 1955 — Mar 2, 2026
William Teddy Sanders, 70, passed peacefully on Monday March 2, 2026. Born October 15th, 1955, in Conway SC, he was the son of William Ernest and Martha Elizabeth Cooper Sanders. He is preceded in death by both his parents, and his sister Marcia Becky Small. Teddy was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.
Teddy was a funny, smart and kind-hearted man, who took on many roles throughout his life. From being a pastor, music minister and deacon of a small community church, to building cranes, welding steel and constructing high rise buildings, to working on tanks and jumping out of airplanes as a paratrooper, he did it all. He was never afraid of a challenge and was resilient to see it through. Some of his proudest moments were during his combined 34 years of military service, protecting our country alongside the men and women of the US Army and National Guard. He loved to make people laugh and feel loved, regardless of their background. He was a man of his word and wore his heart on his sleeve. Following his retirement, he spent most of his time enjoying days on the river, front-porch-sitting and quality with his family, friends, and his beloved dog, Theo.
Teddy is survived by his children, William "Stacy" David Sanders, Jennifer Sanders Martin, and Caitlin Nichole Thompkins (Nathaniel); his grandchildren, Sarah E. Martin and Hunter T. Martin; sisters Martha Jordan (Randall), Melinda Cannon (Wayne), and Nancy Goude (Billy), along with many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. All who will miss him dearly.
