Obituary

William Paul Ellis Mckinney passed away peacefully from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and faith.

He was born to the late Rufus Lee McKinney and Virginia McNatt McKinney. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ronald Lee McKinney, whom he always looked up to, Mary Ruth Simpson, and Bonnie Francis Hale, as well as his beloved granddaughter, Taylor McKinney, who passed away at the age of 10, after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

William is survived by his children, Paul McKinney Jr. and Monica Bailey (Scott); his grandchildren, Chelsea McKinney (Deryk), Crystal Bailey, Cameron Bailey, and Carson Bailey; along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Paul lived for many years in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, before moving to Virginia, where he built a career in land development and sales. If he wasn't working, he could most often be found on the water fishing.

Fishing was more than a hobby-it was a passion. As a longstanding member of the Bassmasters, he competed in and won many bass tournaments over the years. Some of his most cherished memories were teaching his son Paul to fish when he was young and later sharing that same joy with his grandsons. The water was where he felt most at home. Paul was also a proud Veteran after serving our country in Vietnam.

In the quiet reflection of later years, Paul would often say there were things he wished he had done differently, but he also knew he made the most important decision of all. A few short years ago he surrendered his life to Christ. Because of that decision, his family rests in the peace and assurance that he is no longer suffering and is now in the arms of his Savior.

In honor of his beloved granddaughter Taylor, memorial donations may be made to Camp Happy Days at: www.camphappydays.org/donate

A private service will be held at Florence National Cemetery.
