Rev. Wilfred Ancil Benton, 92, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Anderson Oaks surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 28, 1931 in Horry County, a son of the late Joseph Mack and Dora Chestnut Benton.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Winona Carolyn Branton Benton and brothers, Carl Benton, Oliver Benton, Claude Benton, Archie Benton, Joe Mack Benton, Paul Benton and great grandson, Adam Benton.

Rev. Benton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a member of Maple Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent, along with many other positions in the church while serving his Lord and Savior. For many years, he served as Chaplin at J. Reuben Long. He had a passion for seeing things grow, which was why he loved farming and working in the garden. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Rev. Benton is survived by his children, Ancil Wade Benton (Martha), Roger Wilfred Benton (Renee) and June Carolyn Collins; grandchildren, Jason Benton (Joy), Richard Benton (Laura), Diane Cooper, Robyn DeLamar (Ben) and Lindsay Benton; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and many other family and friends who will miss him.

Funeral Services will be held 3pm Monday, January 29, 2024 at Maple Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Reaves, Dale Long and Neil Allsbrook officiating.

Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2pm until 2:45pm prior to the service at the church.
