Shirley Miller Alford Russell, 86, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at Oak View Health. She was born December 22, 1936 in Horry County, a daughter of the late Albert Benjamin and Olga Dixon Miller.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband's, Quincy A. Alford and Arthur Paul Russell; son, Marvin Quincy Alford and half-brother's and sister, Howard Dixon, Cliford Dixon, Willard Dixon, Ed Dixon and Christine Butler and fur babies, Katie and Patches.

Shirley was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a founding member of Conway FWB Church where she enjoyed serving her Lord and Savior. In her later years, she worked as an accountant until she turned 81 years old. Shirley enjoyed going to the mountains, reading and her flower garden.

Mrs. Russell is survived by her children, Carey Alford (Cynthia) and Lori McCormick; step-children, David Paul Russell (Cathy) and Carol Hopkins (Richard); siblings, Betty Benton (Joe), Jean Graham (GC), Nancy Anderson and Nora Anderson; grandchildren, Melanie Harrelson, Leigh Harrelson), Carmen Piver (Tim), Kevin Alford, Jordan Alford (Kaci) and Carluss King (Misty); eight great grandchildren, along with many other family and friends who will miss her.

Funeral Services will be held 3pm Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Watson Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Phillip Cannon and Joe Benton officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
