Obituary

Saundra Jordan Phillips, age 68, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Murphy Phillips. She was born April 1, 1954 in Conway, South Carolina, a daughter of the late McKeaver James and Eloise Roberts James. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two siblings, Carolyn James Daniels and Hilda James Johnson; two brothers-in-law, H. Winfred Daniels and Ervin Grant Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Mary Baker James and Carol Bizzack; and a niece, Gina Johnson Hyman.

Saundra leaves behind two children; a daughter, Tracey Jordan Bartlette (Steve) and a son, Chad Russell Jordan (Katie); four stepsons, Jeffrey Phillips (Michelle), Gregory Phillips (Deborah), Steven Phillips (Patty), and Dr. Mark Phillips (Jennifer). She is also leaving behind 15 grandchildren: Krystal James Boan (Robert), Kenneth Steven Bartlette (Whitney), Paden Russell Jordan, Camden Russell Jordan, Kinsley Ella Jordan, Kayla Hardee, Jesse Phillips, Eric Phillips (Vinea), Lindsey Phillips Boychak (Justin), Tyler Phillips, Matthew Phillips, Ashley Phillips, Cole Phillips, Carson Phillips, Cody Phillips, and three great grandchildren.

In addition, Saundra is survived by a brother, McKeaver James, Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Neil Johnson (Dr. Jim), Martha Lee Filson, and Zane Castle (Don). She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews: Buddy Daniels (Sheila), Sharon Brown (WJ), Greg Daniels (Jeanie), June Causey (Steve), Margie Johnson (Marty), Kevin James (Donna), Jamie Gaston (John), Brad Daniels (Jacqueline), and 22 great and great, great nieces and nephews. Saundra leaves behind two step nieces and seven step nephews as well. Lastly, Sandy is survived by an exceptional companion of many years by the name of Steve "Coach" Schnall with whom she enjoyed many delightful times, trips, and laughs.

Saundra was a clever, talented, hilarious, and giving woman. She retired from Allstate Insurance Company after over 30 years of service. She was also part of a gospel singing group called "The Pleasant Tones". She played the organ, piano, and sang. She was also known and requested for her capabilities in crafting and floral design, especially for weddings, which she worked hard on out of the kindness of her heart.

To understand Saundra, though, was to know her ultimate love for her family. The one thing she enjoyed the most was spending time with her family, extended family, and close friends. She was an inspiring mother and friend. She would do absolutely anything for anyone. She truly couldn't stand the thought of someone going without when she was more than willing to share anything she had. Saundra was a mother, stepmother, grandmother, step grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great and great, great aunt, friend, companion, and neighbor, and she will be greatly missed.
