Rudell
Thompkins
May 11, 1934 — Nov 4, 2023
Minnie Rudell Thompkins, 89, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born May 11, 1934 in Conway, a daughter of the late Daniel Dillon Marlowe and Minnie Angeline Marlowe.
She was the wife of the late Rev. Daniel Paul Thompkins Sr., who also passed away earlier this year having been wed for nearly sixty- nine years and also predeceased by her siblings, Leland Marlowe, Eveline Marlowe, Judson Marlowe, Pearlie Marlowe and Dick Marlowe.
She worked at AVX in the 1950's until beginning her family. For the next twenty years she was singularly focused on motherhood at home for her children. Later she was a teacher's aid at South Conway (Jamestown) Elementary School, and worked at Roses and Walmart in Conway and various businesses in Johnsonville during her husband's pastorate in the 1980's. From the time she become a born-again Christian in 1955, she faithfully served in various roles in church ministry such as Sunday School teacher and Women's Auxiliary officer. She always supported her husband in 50 years of Pastoral ministry and was co-founder of Soul's Harbor Ministry, now Coastal Community Church.
Cooking and particularly baking, brought her great joy and made her home a most welcome place to all. She blessed many people for many years by freely sharing in this way. She will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by two sons, Ray Thompkins (Tracy) and Dan Thompkins (Carolyn); two daughters, Deborah Broughman (Pete) and Delores Stone; siblings, Sam Marlowe, Idell Haselden and Ruth Baker; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
