Ruby Virginia Ray Nesmith, 103, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Carlyle Senior Care in Fork, SC. She was born January 15, 1921 in Horry County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Ray.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James (Jack) Tillman Nesmith, SR.; two sons, James (Jim) Tillman, Jr. and Samuel (Sammy) Ferdon Nesmith, Sr.; one daughter, Linda Nesmith Avecilla and one granddaughter, Tina Nesmith Jones.

Mrs. Nesmith is survived by her son, David Earl Nesmith and one daughter, Dottie Nesmith both of Conway, and grandchildren, Johnny Avecilla (Lynn), Shari Carr (David), Tami Nesmith Casey, Mark James Wilkerson (Kym), Emily Nesmith Harrelson (Will), all of Conway and Samuel Ferdon Nesmith, Jr. (Kendra) of Alabama, and several great grand and great-great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held 2pm Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Union Methodist Church Cemetery, Hwy 701S, Conway, with Rev Mack Hudson and Rev. David Avant officiating.

The family would like to thank Martha Hardee, who was her aide for several years, and for the wonderful care she provided to our mother and all the times she made her laugh.
