Ronald Joseph Cooper, 85, passed away on October 29, 2022 at his residence, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on August 23, 1937 in Conway, a son of the late Lewis C. Cooper and Maggie Brooks James Cooper.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Pat Cooper and Buddy Cooper and one sister Clara Lockheart.

Mr. Cooper was a loving husband, father and grandfather and friend. He will be remembered most for his great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and enjoyed playing poker and other internet games. He was an avid USC, Gamecock fan and a retired CPO, officer, E-7, with the United States Navy. He enjoyed keeping up with his Navy buddies and enjoyed sharing his navy life and the many ports he visited during his naval career. Ronald was extremely kind hearted and would help anyone he knew to be in need. He loved animals especially his beagle, Bocephus.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Elizabeth Barton Cooper; children, Joseph Leclear (Pam) of Greensboro N.C., Robert Leclear (Terri) of Virginia Beach, Michael Cooper (Pauline) of Reno NV and Sharon Laboy (Juan) of Bremerton Washington State; stepchildren, Roger Blevins, Richard Blevins and Randy Blevins of Jefferson, N.C.; three grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren; two nieces, along with many other family and friends who will miss him.

A Graveside Service will be held 10am Friday, November 4, 2022 at Florence National Cemetery.

The family request no food.
