Obituary

Richard H. "Dick" Imdorf, 88, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 8, 1937, in Ridgway Pennsylvania, to the late Leo Joseph Imdorf and Mary Shaw Imdorf.

On May 27, 1961, he married Fern Heffner Imdorf, who survives. Together they shared more than 63 years of love and marriage.

Richard honorably served in the United States Marine Corps as a Force Reconnaissance Marine and was engaged in elite combat operations during the Vietnam War from 1957-1960. Richard made many sacrifices for his nation, most of which will never be known. After his military service, he worked at Molded Materials in Ridgway, PA, and was a heavy equipment operator for the Ridgway Borough and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) before his retirement and later move to South Carolina.

In his early years, he was very active with the Ridgway Fire Department. His favorite hobbies included fishing, swimming, good conversation, and stained glass. He will be remembered as a good friend and neighbor to many.

His greatest pride came from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved them all deeply and dedicated his time to creating unforgettable memories with them. His warmth, kindness, and deep sense of responsibility toward those he loved will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by 3 children who will forever cherish his memory: Linda Brian (Jody) of Ridgway, PA; Joe Imdorf (Derrenda) of Conway, SC; and Amy Elvis of Conway, SC. His legacy will always continue through his 8 beautiful grandchildren: Mindy Guillory (Rob), Kelly Klaiber (Heath), Jessie Zameroski (Nick), Rachael Imdorf, Carissa Peachey (Caleb), and Taylor, Alexis and Matthew Elvis. He will be fondly remembered by his 7 precious great-grandchildren: (Brian, Addison, Brooks, Cada, Faith, Lila, and Kayson). His brother-in-law, Earl Heffner (Ann) of St. Mary's PA, sister-in-law, Elsie Haralson of Ridgway, PA, and sister-in-law, Kay Heffner of Coudersport, PA, also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Richard "Rick" Allen Imdorf, of Ridgway, PA, who passed away in 2015, and who he missed very much.

A memorial service to honor his life and legacy will be led by Pastor James King at 11 am on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Watson Funeral Service Chapel who is serving the family: 2300 Hwy 378, Conway, SC. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
