P. Joyce Mishoe Wiggins, 90, of Socastee, passed away on April 27th, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Joyce was born on September 27th, 1933, in High Point, North Carolina to Admiral Dewey Mishoe and Luttie Owens Mishoe of Socastee, South Carolina. After Joyce graduated from Socastee High School in 1951, she attended Bob Jones University and later spent a majority of her career as a bookkeeper.

Joyce had a lifelong passion for nature. She spent much of her spare time in her yard, beautifying and putzing in her garden. She loved exploring Brookgreen Gardens, a pastime she shared with her mother and later shared with her children and grandchildren. Joyce cherished family above all else. As a selfless mother, she dedicated her life to her children, Mem, Karen, and Tony, who will remember her as loving, compassionate, and always present.

As the matriarch of the Mishoe family, Joyce enjoyed sharing stories of the past with younger generations. Not only did her family visit her to learn of their ancestral history, but also because she was a great listener with a calming presence. Her family will miss her wisdom, patience, and quick wittedness.

Joyce was predeceased by her brothers J. Carlisle Mishoe, D. Raymond Mishoe, C. Ronald Mishoe, and R. Dwight Mishoe, and her sister C. Muriel Mishoe Snowden. She is survived by her brothers A. Larry (Rebecca) Mishoe of Warner Robins, Georgia and G. Marcus (Kathy) Mishoe of Socastee; children Memminger (Sue) Wiggins of Charlotte, North Carolina, Karen (Aubrey) Watts of Conway, and Tony (Kendall) Wiggins of Socastee; grandchildren Gavin (Anna) Wiggins, Lance Easterlin, Megan Easterlin, Heather Thompkins, Catherine Watts, and Alex Wiggins; and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 2:30pm until 3:30pm at Watson Funeral Services.

Graveside Services will be held 4pm Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Hillcrest Cemetery.
