Obituary

Michael Olmstead, 78, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Born September 18, 1946 in Oneonta, NY, he was the son of the late Dale and Mary Gallager Olmstead.

After proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corp, Michael worked as an Inspector with the Delaware and Hudson Railroad. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Michael loved to be, "out and about", cruising around town in his pick-up truck. He loved fishing, hunting, going on cruises, trips to the casino, playing cards, watching the Yankees, and reading. He especially loved coffee time with the boys in New York. Michael will be remembered for his quick wit, charm, and for being always ready to lend a hand.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Olmstead was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Olmstead, Gerard Olmstead, James Olmstead, and Patrick Olmstead.

Mr. Olmstead is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Cesario Olmstead; daughter, Erica K. Salamida (Jason); Grandson, Luca Michael Salamida, and many other family and friends who will miss him.

Services will be held at a later date with burial in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

The family would like to thank Pruitt Hospice, especially Kayla, Mallory, and Betsy for the loving care they provided on this journey. Donations can be made to Pruitt Hospice 2051 Elijah Ludd Rd Suite 1, Florence SC 29501.
