Mary "Evelyn"
Hendrick Causey
Oct 4, 1929 — Dec 29, 2025
Mary" Evelyn" Hendrick Causey, 96, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at Conway Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born October 4, 1929, in Horry County, a daughter of the late Franklin Arthur Mills and Grace Olivia Cannon Mills.
She was predeceased by her first husband, James Arnold Hendrick; second husband, John Causey; siblings, Jennings Mills, Pat Oliver, J.W. Mills, Bill Mills and Pearl Bullock; two grandchildren, Joshua Hendrick and Natalee Kelley Mercer.
Evelyn was a loving woman with a servant's heart. She not only talked about her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior but lived out her faith every day of her life. She raised her children with love and kindness and put their needs above her own. Not only did she minister to her immediate family's needs but also to those of her community. She was the oldest member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was a faithful member until she was no longer physically able to attend. She taught Sunday school, worked to raise money for the stained-glass windows in the church, and sang in the choir. She was known for making a "joyful" noise, if not always a melodious one. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and devotion…to God, family and friends.
Mrs. Causey is survived by two sons, James Arnold "Buddy" Hendrick, Jr. (Debbie) and Charles "Koon" Hendrick; three daughters, Mary Grace Kelley (Lynn), Judy Ellen Blanton (Randy) and Theodocia Olivia Hughes (Charles); ten grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many other family and friends who will miss her.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am, Friday, January 2, 2026, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the graveside in the church fellowship hall.
A special thanks to Dr. Bradley Lineback and her medical home health caregivers: Helen Cook, Elena Lipat and Leslie Sanders.
