Mrs. Margie "Tootsie" Bourne Bercume was matriarch of her family. She passed away February 22, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving. She led her girls with love, compassion and poise. Honesty, integrity, independence and organization are characteristics she embodied and coached in return. "Make a list!"
Margie was born in Conway, SC where her father, John Edgar Bourne, and mother, Mary Thelma Bland Bourne, raised her alongside 5 siblings. Margie is predeceased by her parents and siblings: John E. Bourne JR, Frank Bourne, Morris "Tony" Bourne, and Joan Jordan. She is survived by her sister, Irma Gasque. Margie adored her nieces and nephews. Margie married SKC US NAVY Arthur James Bercume in 1978 and shared decades of happiness and fulfillment until his passing in 2012. Margie's 2 daughters, whom were the light of her life, are from her previous marriage to Lewis Thatcher. She is predeceased by her daughter Donna Thatcher and survived by her eldest daughter, Tammy Thatcher. Her granddaughters are Jamie Klauder, Morgan Cawley Siders, Lindsey Camille Cawley and Chandler Boyd Smith. The latest lights of her life were her great-grands including Sydney Elizabeth Siders, Liam Finn Klauder, Sullivan Ambrose Siders and Thatcher Luke Smith.
Margie passed comfortably at home in Pawleys Island surrounded by her girls that loved her so.
As a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-aunt and doting wife Margie Bourne Bercume had a profound impact on her family.
We will all strive to continue to honor you and carry your spirit of strength, determination and integrity with us through our lives. We're all making lists. Love, your family.
