Obituary

Lamar "Buster" Lee Skipper, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior suddenly on Sunday, April 13, 2025 with his loving family by his side. He was born February 13, 1940 in Horry County, a son of the late Dermie William Skipper and Foye Richardson Skipper Hucks Brooks.

Lamar was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Mildred Graham Skipper; his daughter, Rhonda Lee Johnson; his great grandson Tristen Hicks; siblings, Allard Brockington "AB" Hucks Jr., Randy Skipper, Carl Brooks, Lavon Brooks, J.C. Brooks Jr., Ernestine Brooks Lewis and Harriett Brooks Brogdon Causey; son-in-law, Dean Johnson.

Lamar was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He dedicated his life to his family, and nothing gave him greater joy than being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a tremendous faith in God and shared his faith every chance he had. A member of Centenary Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon and also taught Sunday School. He was owner/operator of Pee Dee Appliance from 1983 until present and worked for Marion Tire Service for twenty-five years. In his spare time, he enjoyed eating vanilla ice cream with pound cake, fishing, watching old westerns, watching NASCAR, tinkering on old things and reading, especially his Bible.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Lorrie Hayhurst (Randy) of Florence and Michael Skipper of Florence; grandchildren, Jessica Skipper, Katy Thompson, Michael Skipper (Stephanie), Lance Skipper (Jessica) and Crista Skipper; great grandchildren, Nathan Skipper, Madison Inman, Aiden Hicks,  Adalina Hicks, John Baker, Samantha Baker, Iris Skipper and Ruby Skipper; siblings, brothers, Leon Brooks, Ray Brooks and Buddy Brooks; sisters, Susan Skipper Chandler (Ken), Wanda Brooks Lewis (Mike), Dianne Brooks Strickland, Juanita Brooks Strickland (Clifford), Patricia Brooks Harper (Larue), Sally Brooks Brown and Bobbie Jean Brooks Coker (Bobby); grand pups, Bella, Oreo, Sasha and Scooby Doo, along with many other family and friends who will miss him.

Funeral Services will be held, 11am Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Watson Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Tom Grant officiating.

Burial will follow at Westside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30am until 10:45am at the funeral home.
