Joseph "Joe" Edward Buczek, 80, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was born April 24, 1943 in Johnstown, PA., a son of the late Joseph Stanley Buczek and Jennie Leniek Buczek.

Joe was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. At the age of eighteen, he moved to Washington, DC where he met the love of his life, Diane, and together they raised their daughters in Poolesville, MD. After a twenty plus year career with NOAA, he and Diane moved to Surfside Beach, SC in 2001. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion in Murrells Inlet and served in the Naval Reserves for nearly thirty years. Joe was known for his big smile, friendliness and generosity. He was an avid golfer, who played in two weekly leagues, loved music, traveling, writing poetry, fishing, playing poker and shooting pool.  He was very proud of his Polish Heritage and enjoyed playing polkas on his accordion. As a licensed contractor, he had a home improvement business and also built several homes.

Mr. Buczek is survived by his wife of fifty-six years; Susan "Diane" Watson Buczek; daughters, Diana Lynn White (Michael) Simpsonville, SC and Jennifer B. Kachadorian (Doug) Leesburg, VA; brothers, Dan Buczek (Selma) and Ted Buczek (Andrea); four grandchildren, Lindsay White, Leo White, Tyler Kachadorian and Jessica Kachadorian, along with many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 6:00pm Friday, December 22, 2023 at Watson Funeral Services.

A Graveside Service will be held 11am Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Ocean Woods Cemetery, Myrtle Beach, SC.

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the American Legion, 3950 Hwy 17bus, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to; American Legion Post #178, P.O. Box 478, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
