Retired Lt. Colonel Jon J. "Bugs" Allen Sr., 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 21, 2024 with his loving family by his side. He was born May 7, 1939 in Horry County, a son of the late James B. and Mae Revels Allen. Mr. Allen was also predeceased by his wives, Mary Louise Thompson Allen Neill (mother of Jon) and Shirlee G. Allen; brothers, Retired General US Army James B. Allen Jr. and Dr. Floyd E. Allen.

Jon retired as a Lt. Colonel after serving his country for twenty-five years in the US Army. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to church and playing golf. Jon will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Mr. Allen is survived by his son, Jon J. Allen Jr.; step daughters, Kara Lynn Hoffman, Kellee Deana Skipper and Tamera Jeane Smith; sister, JoAnn Hall; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services with full Military Honors will be held 11am Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Watson Funeral Service Chapel.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
