James D. "J.D." Hooks, age 71, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at his home. Mr. Hooks was born on October 31, 1952 in Horry County, a son of the late A.D. Hooks and Thelma Ray Hooks.

In addition to his parents, J.D. was predeceased by a sister, Alice Hooks Shelley and four brothers, Eugene Hooks, William Hooks, Carl Hooks and Wendell Hooks.

J.D. enjoyed fishing, Clemson and Coastal Carolina football and NASCAR. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

J.D. is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathy Graham Hooks; son, James Eric Hooks (Mindy) of Conway; two grandsons, Gavin Hooks and Peyton Hooks; siblings, Brad Hooks (Faye), David Hooks (Teresa), Henry Hooks (Shirley), Michael Hooks, Julia Anderson (Wallace), Dinah Lane (Glenn), Bonnie Johnson, and Pat Small (Randy), as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Lane officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
