James Earl Cox, 77, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was born May 5, 1946 in Garland N.C, a son of the late Herbert L. Cox and Alberta Ivy Hardee Cox.

Mr. Cox was predeceased by his sister, Annette C. Chestnut and Edna Marie Britt; brother-in-law, Carroll Benton and nephew, Darren Benton.

Earl was owner of Cox Brothers Logging for forty years. He was a US Army Vet and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, car racing and could fix anything that was broken or make anything out of wood. He enjoyed and loved helping and spending time with family and friends especially the apple of his eye, his grandson.

Mr. Cox is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Gloria Skipper Cox; son, Wesley Cox (Jessica); grandchild, Caden Cox; brother, Edward Cox (Frances); sisters, Yvonne Benton, Wanda Shannon (Roger) and Gwen Sawyer (Billy Joe) and many other family and friends who will miss him.

A Funeral Service will be held 2pm, Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Mack Hudson and Rev. Denis McCorry officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 1:45pm at the church.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
