James Theodore Barnhart, Sr. passed away on August 31st, 2024, surrounded by loved ones in his home in Conway, South Carolina. He was born October 14th, 1945 to Kenneth Barnhart, Sr and Maretta Banks Barnhart. He was born and raised in Bainbridge, NY.

James was survived by his wife, Ruth Renze Barnhart. They enjoyed 12 beautiful years together. He was also survived by his siblings, Terri Barnhart and Thomas Barnhart (his wife, Kathy Barnhart), his two sons, James T. Barnhart Jr. (his wife, Marcia Barnhart) and Edward Barnhart, two grandchildren, Katelyn Wachob (her husband, Zachary Wachob) and Michael Chesney, and two great grandchildren, Theodore James Wachob and Mackenzie Nicole Chesney, and many other extended family members. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Shubert Barnhart, after 45 wonderful years together, and his brother, Kenneth Barnhart Jr.

He made a career as a Volunteer Firefighter and Fire Chief for the Bainbridge Fire Department, he worked for Bendix (Amphenol), and spent 30+ years as a long distance truck driver. In his off time, he enjoyed woodworking. Frequently completing projects for his friends and family out of kindness. You could always find him on the golf course or on the beach enjoying the sun and warmth. He was a big personality who loved winning at any game you put in front of him, especially cards. In loving memory of a life well-lived. Thank you for all the love you brought to our lives.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in New York.
