Obituary

George "Bill" William McBee of Conway, South Carolina passed away from an illness at Conway Medical Center on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on January 21, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio and was adopted by his parents George McBee and Harriet Marie Martin.

Bill was a mechanic by trade for many years, served in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corps, and his favorite job was being a dad to his eight children. He loved fishing, camping, singing karaoke, playing his guitar, listening to music, and singing in bands throughout his life. Bill loved entertaining others with his terrible dad jokes, stories about his life, and jamming to his favorite songs.

Later in life, he was able to find his biological family after years of searching. Although he was not able to meet all of the members of his biological family, they were very important to him.

Bill was predeceased by his parents George McBee and Harriet Marie Martin, first wife Diane Sloanaker, eldest daughter Jennifer Dawn McBee, biological father Lawrence Jones, biological mother Julia Eileen Hill of Michigan, biological brothers Bill Jones of Michigan and Jimmy Jones of Ohio, and biological sister Kathy Jones of Florida.

He is survived by his children Christian Richardson and husband Brandon of the home, Shaun McBee of Columbus, Ohio, Ashley Frascona and husband Jerry, Jordan Benton and husband Mason, and Aubri Hinds, all of Conway, South Carolina. In addition, Brandy Jarrell of Winterhaven, Florida and Charli Merritt and husband Bubba of Summerville, South Carolina, twenty-three grandchildren, sister Donna Keffer and husband Gerry, and nieces Tammi Doyle and husband Tommy, Nicki Keffer-Green and husband Kenny, and Kelli Charlton and husband Matt all of Ohio. He is also survived by his biological uncle, Tom Hill and wife Peggy of Versailles, Ohio, aunt, Barbara Boisel of Springfield, Ohio, and biological sister Connie Culp and husband Gary of Piqua, Ohio, along with several biological nieces and nephews.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. They will receive family and friends at a private event on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
