Evelyn "Jeanie"
Swanson
May 17, 1943 — Dec 13, 2021
Evelyn "Jeanie" Swanson, 78, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021. While most of her life she resided in Western New York and Pennsylvania, she moved to the Carolinas in the late 1990's and never looked back. She loved the sunshine and southern hospitality. She called Little River, South Carolina home for the last 21 years.
Jeanie was born in Jamestown, New York on May 17, 1943, to the late Myron and Martha McIntryre. Jeanie is predeceased by her husband David Swanson. Jeanie is survived by her brothers Milton and Phillip McIntyre; son Timothy Alford; daughters Tracy Jacob, Teresa Graham, and Pamela Rapp; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Jeanie grew up on a farm in Frewsburg, New York. She loved horses and won numerous ribbons in barrel racing. She also loved the Lord and took pleasure in playing the organ and singing in the church choir.
She attended college at the University of Pittsburgh and went into real estate. She was a broker and owner of a Century 21 in Mayville, New York. Later in life, she continued as an agent with Century 21 on the Grand Strand, receiving the Centurion Award.
She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary at the American Legion Post 186 in Little River. She avidly supported events that benefited current military, veterans, and wounded warriors. You could find Jeanie most evenings at the Legion enjoying the company of her friends with a southern comfort and soda in her hand. Her friends often remarked how classy she was. Until we meet again in heaven, Jeanie will be dearly missed by family and friends.
At her request, no service will be held.
