Edmond Virgil Marlowe, Jr., 82, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024 at his daughter's residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 4, 1941 in Conway SC, a son of the late Edmond V. Marlowe, Sr. and Hazelwood Johnson Marlowe.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Gail D. Marlowe and sister, Elaine Crosland.
Virgil served in the US Army during the first major battle of the Vietnam War in 1965 as an Artillaryman in the First Calvary Division (Air Mobile). He also served near the end of his thirty year career, in the Army, a tour during Desert Storm. Virgil had a passion for helping others and enjoyed fishing, oystering and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Mr. Marlowe is survived by his daughter, Gina Marlowe Russ, (Craig) of Conway; sister, Jonnie Miller (Bob) of Florence; grandchildren, Captain Hayes McDowell (Aleka), Jessica McDowell Fabrizio (Kevin) and Kaleigh Black; great grandchildren, Adaline McDowell and Emery Fabrizio, along with many other family and friends who will miss him.
A Graveside Service will be held 11am, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Hillcrest Mausoleum with Captain Hayes McDowell officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum.
