David Wayne Sturdevan ,88, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Oak View Health. He was born August 9, 1935 in Miami, Florida, a son of the late Donald Wayne Sturdevan and Ruth Hoffman Sturdevan.

He was predeceased by his wife, Julia Ann Sturdevan, and her son, Herschel Warren Cooper.

David was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to everyone he met.

David was a graduate of Newcomb Central School, in Newcomb, NY, where he loved sports and was on the basketball team.

Mr. Sturdevan, was a proud veteran who, served his country in the United States Navy. His passion for teaching, was why he enjoyed being a professor at Coastal Carolina College. He was loved by all his students and made friends easily. He also enjoyed going fishing.

Mr. Sturdevan is survived by his brother, Jim Sturdevan, and his sister, Donna Williams: Julie's son, Dale Allan Cooper; two grandchildren; four nephews and many other family and friends who will miss him.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 am Monday, July 22, 2024 at Watson Funeral Services Chapel, with the Rev. Gregg Cannon officiating.
