Carlton Linwood Chestnut, 83, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 16, 1940 in Conway, SC, a son of the late Lundy and Letha Bell Anderson Chestnut.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Lenneau Chestnut, Sgt. Leland Lane Chestnut.

Linwood enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians play baseball and watching the Gamecocks play football. He loved spending time with his family and friends and his dog, Buddy.

Mr. Chestnut is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Porter Chestnut; a son, Stephan Chestnut (Melissa); a daughter, Stephanie Johnson (James); grandchildren, Henry Monroe (Anna), Robert Johnson, Kayla Singleton (Randy), Megan Kaiser (Kevin), Heather Wood (Anthony) and Reed Chestnut; great-grandchildren, Brantley Wood, Karsen Kaiser, Kristen Kaiser, Paxton Wood, Kaylee Singleton and Payton Singleton; a sister, Sonya Chestnut (Rev. Roger); and many other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held 2pm Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Kinlaw, Pastor Jimmy Floyd and Rev. Kyle Randall officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1pm-2pm.
