Bobby Joe Smith, 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 14, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 12, 1948 in Conway, a son of the late Lewis Wilson Smith and Lily Ruth McCormick Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Frances Allen, Edward Smith, Patricia Siratt, Virginia McDowell, Kenny Smith, Thomas R. “Tommy” Smith.
Bobby was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
He was an avid pool player and many people knew him as the “Jesse Jones Hot Dog Man”. He enjoyed coaching and watching youth baseball. He loved southern gospel music, living life with his family, singing karaoke, listening to Conway Twitty and being outside with his great grandchildren.
Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Bonnie Sue Cooper Smith; sons, James Johnson (Gidget) and Buddy Johnson (Tracie); daughter, Susan Holmes (Chris); brother, Lonnie Smith (Athene); sisters, Debbie Wilburn (Robert) and Wanda Cox (Terry); five grandchildren, Jordan Kelly Gasque (Dylan), Caleb Johnson (Julia), Josie Holmes Locklear (Aaron), Emily Grace Holmes, Christopher Lee Holmes Jr.; three great grandchildren, who he was the best Old Papa to; Cooper Gasque, Stella Mae Gasque and Addison Johnson; soon to be great grandchild, Parker Johnson along with many other family and friends who will miss him.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, September 20th at South Conway FWB Church, with the Rev. Ray Cribb officiating.
The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
A special thank you to Sunrise Hospice and his nurses, Ashley, Amber and Christi also Oak View Rehabilitation and his nurse Theresa.
