Bishop Teddy
Lee Fortenberry
Oct 9, 1953 — Oct 21, 2023
Bishop Teddy Lee Fortenberry, 70, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was a devoted husband, beloved father, and doting grandfather. He was born October 9, 1953 in Los Angeles, CA, a son of the late Ray and Margie Wilson Fortenberry.
Bishop Fortenberry is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Darleen Fortenberry; three children, Lauren, Kristin (Husband Jesse) and Brent (Wife Lena); their two grandchildren, Camden and Leif; his sister, Darla, and his loyal companion, Bronson. He is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his earthly father figure, Uncle Bob (Robert Eugene Wilson). He was predeceased by his brothers, David and Donald.
Ted had a quick wit, loved to laugh and always had an "imp in him." Outside of God, family came first and he always had an unconditional love for his family and friends. He completed his Master's Degree in Pastoral Studies. He received his true calling in Israel to minister and sing at the age of twenty-one and never looked back. Throughout his fifty plus years in ministry, his reach was immeasurable. He touched the hearts of both older and younger generations. His homecoming will start with, "Well done my good and faithful servant." He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith. He is enjoying his reward in Heaven and dancing on the streets of gold.
His Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 2pm at Watson Funeral Services Chapel in Conway, South Carolina with Bishop George McLaughlin and Bishop Richard Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00pm until 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shiloh Church of God of Prophecy, 703 East Friendfield Road, 29530.
