Benjamin S. Smith, 86, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026 at his residence. Born September 25, 1939, he was the son of the late William and Kathleen Holden Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Betty B. Smith and siblings, Giles Smith and Nellie Lansdell.

Benjamin played high school and college football at Georgia Tech. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. A jokester at heart, he was always fun to be around and had a nickname and phrase for everything.

Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Shawn Smith (Natalie), Shannon McConnel (John) and Stephanie Smith; sisters, Anna Lee Smith, Sarah Murphy (Jerry) and Linda Gammage; grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Blake Smith, Jeffrey Monroe, Payton Garrett, Reese Monroe and Teague Kollar; four great grandchildren and many other family and friends who will miss him.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
